In every organization, there are tasks and decisions historically privileged to leaders that can be taken on and rotated among several others who don't need a special position to engage their talents in them. The advantage is that people get and feel more engaged, which contributes to all manner of performance indicators.
In Smarter Together I describe how decision making can become more inclusive, distributed and efficient. Using a rigorous model like the Agile Canvas, people can rotate in pair to make routine decisions. People most knowledgable in any decision space can collaborate to facilitate unique decisions. It works as long as the efforts are facilitated by the Canvas and lead pairs.
This is a radical departure from the territorial and patriarchal conventions of industrial era governance models in organizations. It creates more velocity, agility and wisdom than ever.
