There continue to be organizational cultures where it is normal, even celebrated, to have visionaries in executive leadership who dictate strategy and structure. Their successes depend on compliance rather than engagement. In most cases, they lack engagement skills that would make dictating irrelevant and/or they lack trust in the organization to participate in shaping strategy and structure.
Some are curious to learn how to engage people in key decisions. They learn how to bring people together in ways that make them smarter and better together. These are very learnable skills.
