Many organizations talk about growth. Growth can take on any number of varied definitions and descriptions. The more innovative organizations I work with think about growth specifically in part as the percentage of budget dedicated to developing, testing and launching new value to existing or emerging markets.
This is realistic. Growth requires specific investments in skunkworks and entrepreneurship efforts. Otherwise it's lip service, not genuine or effective. These investments are essentially investments in learning. Commitment to growth means commitment to learning, not just scaling business as usual.
