These words are sweet music to the ears of those who have little passion for email. It's a dream now realized by the emerging tribe of post-email era practitioners of text and collaboration apps that literally put an end to email. And there's another tool that is a far superior tech for rich conversations: the phone.
Collaboration apps like Trello, Evernote, Google Docs, Zoho and countless others allow us to exchange, archive and share any communication, documents, archives and real time co-creating in a single space that would otherwise get completely fragmented, lost, inaccessible and unavailable in real time. Text is infinitely easier and more useful than email for all other things we would otherwise do in email. Best of all, the better collaboration apps like Evernote and Trello have embedded messaging and communication features.
All of this adds up to the reality that we can now manage any conversation, meeting, project or organization without email, completely. It's both possible and advantageous on many levels. Compared to email, it's easier, more functional and more supportive of efficiency, alignment, transparency, accountability, creativity and trust. Email by design actually reduces the changes of these.
The key is to get the early adopters in the transiton early, leading by example and results.
