How Important Is It To Have Vague Vision?

The typical wisdom about long range vision, whether we call them goals or strategies, is that they don't need to be specific. This is how we think in a world that believes vision is something to be achieved. This view occurs in a world where we believe the future can be largely predictable.

When we believe the future is intrinsically unknowable, we see vision as a lens to better see new possibilities in the present, not predictable locations we can arrive at with enough control and effort. And in this context, the more specific our vision, the more inspiring it is to reveal new present possibilities.
