One of the more significant kinds of value leaders contribute to their teams is opening them to their potential.
Every team has an at least implicit shared sense of its potential. This is more of a fixed or expansive sense of potential. People become more creative, proactive, agile and smarter together when their sense of their potential is expansive, when they honestly don't know what their limits are.
People stay stuck when their sense of potential is more fixed, when they believe they are already maxed out. The fundamental flaw of this fixed mindset is equating effort and potential. Thriving people see the two as distinct and potential certainly not determined by effort, but rather by living daily the question of what we would love to see possible beyond what we have already achieved.
