Reducing conversational noise

Converational noise comes in a variety of shapes. Internal noise includes judgment, impatience and stress. External noise includes monologues, awkward silences and attacks.

Being present reduces any form of noise. Many forms of noise emanate from leaving the present in the conversation for living in the past and future. Living in the past and future differs from simply talking about their narratives. The clearest indicator we have left the present is that we acknowledge more of the past and future than what we're experiencing and sharing in the present.
