Mindfulness is exhausting

Guardian writer Stewart Heritage has a recent piece where he declares how absolutely exhausting mindfulness is.

It's true that some forms of mindfulness are exhausting because they involve the very energy costly effort to try to notice everything in the present or to try observing everything without judgement.

The far more economic practice of presence I refer to as focus has none of these energy costs, and in fact is sustainable because it creates rather than depletes energy. In focus, we simply and gently notice what's different in each fresh moment in our exprience compared to the last. It creates a clear and calm mind, the immediate and ultimate antidote to being distracted and reactive.
