I've met many leaders over the years who intentionally or inadvertently resisted growth. They lacked confidence in their ability to create and sustain growth. So they did what they could to try maintaining the status quo. They do this with command and control and hub and spoke leadership. They sustain a culture of fear by focusing primarily on compliants, worries, deficiencies and constraints. Doing so, they never discover the strengths, passions and potentials of their teams. If they did, they would have the confidence it takes to be committed to growth and they would inspire growth rather than fearing and resisting it.
