Common mythology would suggest that somehow being more knowledgable makes one more intelligently curious. There is truth to the fact that at some point, for some people, the more we know we know, the more we know what we don't know.
I would also argue that experts have had more experience questioning assumptions and so are expert at raising new questions that make a difference.
The good news is that asking better questions is a mindset we can learn and develop with practice and application.
