Planning phobia

I know people who dislike planning. They are bright and accomplished. They bristle when people urge or press them to craft plans beyond what they think of as realistic expectations. It is in fact their sense of realistic that dissuades them from the usual assumptions of planning.

I support their view, with context. I remind them, in ways they get, that declaring a vision of the stories they want to see possible is a practice of presence. Vision is a lens that reveals present possibilities.

They get that. It makes sense, and they commit to doing in the present what would make new things more possible. It is realistic and inspired. It works.
