I would argue that the precedent question is about what we want from our teams. As this becomes obvious, so does expectations of our leaders.
- Do we want teams to act with agency, taking initiative to be proactive and responsive?
- Do we want teams to have to wait for anything from their leaders, like permissions or information?
- Do we want teams to organize and coordinate their own work flows?
- Do we want teams working from their own collaboratively crafted agreements!
The answers to each shapes exactly what value leaders can be prepared and positioned to deliver.
