I've actually been part of the industry that develops elaborate leadership assessments. When I was trained and coached in this fine art, I was instructed to make sure the questions were "tricky" enough so people couldn't "cheat" their way into the "right answers." And there were always right answers.
In the latest book, Smarter Together, I propose a simple assessment tool with three essential questions.
- 1. Are people working with more integrity, as described as transparency, to everyone in their world?
- 2. Are people taking more initiative In choosing their teams, work and learning?
- 3. Are people collaboratively sharing work with others?
