You Don't Master A Craft, You Submit To It

This is a beautiful quote from Detroit artist Amos Kennedy to a group of students.

We need to return to work, all work, as a craft. Imagine the implications on all levels that such an invitation would invite. How would engagement become a natural phenomenon in workplaces if people related to their work as craft?

In a world where people see their work as a craft, as my mentors instilled in me since my youth, there is no need for heavy parent-child talk about accountability and compensating a lack of passion. We would not even talk about people mastering their craft, but simply submitting to it.
