Another word on work/life balance

The whole work/life balance conversation comes from multiple perspectives. It can come from the untenable guilt of obligation, that we should be able to give people at home and at work as much time as they require, expect or demand. It can come from the intention of synthesis, the question of how we can create work and personal life spaces that support and enrich each other.

The pursuit of balance is a classic example where stating intentions, rules and objectives is not ultimately useful, no matter how reasonable the effort appears. All these declarations do is create doubt. A more realistic and wise path is approaching balance from the perspective of questions, like what is the highest value we can provide people in our work and life spaces.
