The Practice Of Focus

We do our best at work when we show up with a sense of focus. Focus is why we notice new possibilities, listen well, get things done, enjoy what life offers us to enjoy, feel energized by uncertainty with curiosity, tap into our intuition, act with poise and bounce back from distractions.

I think of focus as noticing how each fresh moment is different from the last. It's a practice that we can take into any situation. It opens us up to the space of possibilities. Practice actually changes the structure of our brain, giving us more capacity to notice the patterns and details in whatever we're doing.

At the root of all of our moments of being distracted is lack of focus. So many of our not best moments have lack of focus in common. We are simply at our best when we show up with focus. It's that simple, and powerful.
