Over 80% of managers don't measure for engagement and misunderstand what motivates their people, in spite of the fact that over 70% of their people work without passion and engagement. How could they get that so wrong?
I would argue that that it isn't moral character or intellectual deficiencies. It's simply habits of certain beliefs instead of curiosity. They are blinded by their superstitious beliefs about human experience and performance, including their own. Imagine what they and their teams would be like if they were curious enough to be right.
